This Continuing Education (CE) course provides dental assistants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to perform coronal polishing on patients under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The procedure involves the removal of plaque and extrinsic stains from the clinical crowns of teeth using a slow-speed handpiece, polishing cups, and abrasive agents.
Course Includes
- Didactic instruction (theory & safety)
- Infection control and patient safety protocols
- Handpiece operation and technique
- Clinical practice (hands-on polishing)
- Review of the NC Dental Coronal Polishing Exam
- Exam – must pass with 70% or higher
- Certificate of Completion upon passing
