The Dental Radiography Certification course at D.A. Academy of NC is designed to meet the requirements set forth by the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners. This comprehensive program equips students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to safely and effectively perform dental radiographic procedures. This course is available in person or conveniently online!
Course Overview
The course spans three full-day sessions, totaling 21 hours of instruction. This course does include the state board approved exam. Exam score with a minimum of 80% is required to successfully pass this course to obtain your certification.
Day 1: Didactic Instruction (7 Hours)
Terminology: Learn essential vocabulary used in dental radiography.
Production: Understand the principles of X-ray generation and the mechanics of radiographic equipment.
Usage: Explore how dental radiographs are applied in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Types of Radiography: Gain an overview of various radiographic techniques used in modern dentistry.
Days 2 & 3: Hands-On Training & Clinical Application (14 Hours) Practice operating radiographic equipment in a supervised setting. Apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, focusing on patient positioning, exposure techniques, and image evaluation. Gain confidence in capturing high-quality radiographic images while adhering to safety protocols.
Prerequisites
To enroll in this course, participants must meet and/or submit the following requirements & supporting documents. Student success advisors are available to assist you in determining what supporting documents will suffice.
Valid Identification (license / passport)
Provide their own proof to verify their Dental Assistant status or, the supervising dentist can agree to verify by completing the "supervising dentist' section on the application
Current CPR certification.
