Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification

The Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification course at D.A. Academy of NC is designed to equip dental assistants with the knowledge and skills to safely monitor patients receiving nitrous oxide sedation. This specialized training adheres to the requirements of North Carolina Dental Laws, ensuring compliance and competency in providing safe and effective patient care.


Course Overview
This course combines theoretical instruction with hands-on training to prepare dental assistants for the responsibilities of nitrous oxide monitoring. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of sedation principles, patient safety protocols, and monitoring techniques.

Course Topics Include:
Pharmacology of nitrous oxide and its physiological effects.

Patient assessment and preparation for sedation.

Operation and maintenance of nitrous oxide equipment.

Techniques for monitoring patient vitals during sedation.

Identification and management of sedation-related emergencies.


Prerequisites

To enroll in this course, participants must meet and/or submit the following requirements & supporting documents. Student success advisors are available to assist you in determining what supporting documents will suffice.

  • Valid Identification (license / passport)

  • Provide their own proof to verify their Dental Assistant status or, the supervising dentist can agree to verify by completing the "supervising dentist' section on the application

  • Current CPR certification.
